One MUSEUM – a lot of HOPE

The National Museum of Leskovac is implementing a project that will bring closer disabled children of this town to the Museum and their heritage.

The project “One museum – a lot of hope is focused on providing equal access of disabled people to culture and the Museum, as well as improving their social integration.

Inclusive workshops and accompanying activities for children that have been organized are:
Workshop – Sticker book (Prehistory, Rome, Justiniana Prima, Middle Ages)
Workshop – Puzzle
Workshop – Memory game
Workshop – Make a souvenir
Workshop – Games of our grandmothers and grandfathers
Workshop for children and parents – Mom and dad, I’m taking you to a museum
Workshop for children, grandmothers and grandfathers – We are making an exhibition in the museum

Museum’s activities will involve children aged 7 to 13 years, teachers, parents, grandparents and everyone who understands the importance of inclusion and equal access to common heritage and culture.

Workshops’ participants will learn more about tradition, culture and specific historical periods in Leskovac. Special workshops are created for children, parents and grandparents in which they will explore together Museum and their common culture.

The Museum will use different didactic and special designed materials in order to awaken the interest among children to their common cultural heritage. Different didactic material have been developed to enable learning about important cultural assets to children through games. A special book on the heritage of Leskovac region has been adapted and designed for children with disabilities. In this way children can improve their attention through various activities: solving simple thought tasks and observation tasks, such as labyrinths (find the way from one point to another), coloring, gluing thumbnails, connecting numbers.

The National Museum of Leskovac is implementing this project in partnership with the Regional Museum in Knjaževac and the school “11. October” in Leskovac. The project is funded by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation through Foundation Cultural Heritage without Borders.
