Project „Return Memories of the Old Ohrid Fishing Boat“ is in the process of implementation by the National Institute for Protection of Monuments of Culture and Museum – Ohrid, as one of the seven projects funded under the small grants programme by the Balkan Museum Network. Old Ohrid Fishing Boat tells an interesting history of inhabitants of the Ohrid Lake. It was not only used for fishing, but for transport, trade, and other ceremonies such as weddings. It was even used for a smuggling weapons and transport of troops during the World War II. The Boat has been destroyed by the recent natural disaster, when a massive rock fell on him. Project is aiming to bring back memories and to open the opportunity for learning about the history, since in present now we have modern metal boards, and wooden boat belongs to the history. As for the implementation of the activities, the Institute is now in the process of development of conservation restoration project, and contracting experts for realization of this part. Upon the finalization of conservation, managers of this project will create a multimedia exhibition about the boat, and final presentation of the project is planned for December.
