History Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina has dedicated to make museum more accessible to blind and partially sighted persons, through the project “Touch the History.” On the beginning of the project, they have significantly reduce ticket price for the persons with disabilities (80% reduction). In a following period, together with consultants from Balkan Museum Access group as well as representatives from the organizations of persons with disabilities, History Museum is working on a specially designed interpretation panel for blind and partially sighted persons, then on creating the permanent Tactile Area with 8-10 artefacts from the Museum’s three-dimensional objects collection and an “easy to read” version of the Museum’s website. Besides all of these, Museum is also working on producing of a major tactile exhibit – a reconstruction of the DFS 230 glider. The exhibition will be open on October 9th.
